Kelley & Hall was the publicity team for the originally self-published novel, The Lace Reader, by Brunonia Barry (Flapjacket Press, July 2007). We helped with the preliminary production stages and were able to secure a starred review for the book in Publisher’s Weekly, which gained the attention of literary agents. Ultimately, Barry sold her debut novel in a bidding war to William Morrow for more than $2 million. A front page Boston Globe article and other news stories and reviews tell the tale.

Megan Kelley Hall’s debut YA novel, Sisters of Misery (Kensington, July 2008), explores the disappearance of a young girl in Hawthorne, a small New England town just a stone’s throw from Salem, Massachusetts. This suspenseful and thrilling modern gothic novel explores a present day witch hunt featuring “mean girls” in a secret society. Kelley & Hall was able to secure coverage in Publisher’s Weekly, features in USA Today and Boston magazine, as well as wide-reaching national reviews.

 

Still Alice by Lisa GenovaSTILL ALICE by Lisa Genova

Still Alice (iUniverse, 2008), Dr. Lisa Genova’s debut, self-published novel explores the slow loss of memory of a woman suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. With the help of Kelley & Hall’s publicity efforts in securing major media coverage, as well as drawing the attention of reviewers and bloggers to her book, Dr. Genova recently sold the rights to Simon and Schuster in a six-figure deal.

Kelley & Hall worked with Michael Palmer in promoting his thirteenth medical thriller, The First Patient (St. Martins Press, February 2008). We obtained an in-depth feature in The Boston Globe that explored Michael Palmer’s extraordinary life as a doctor who helps other doctors overcome addictions and as writer. This feature introduced him to a new generation of readers and helped to push him onto The New York Times best seller list.

Oprah’s first book club author, Jacquelyn Mitchard, who wrote The Deep End of the Ocean and ten other novels, asked Kelley & Hall to promote her latest adult novel, Still Summer (Warner Books). Our publicity efforts resulted in writing assignments for Ms. Mitchard in national publications like Good Housekeeping, Hallmark magazine, Parade, and Real Simple.
